Purrified Powerful Five-Stage Filtration

The Purrified Air litter box air filter employs five-stage air filtration in its Filter Media Cartridge (Find at search for B09F3WR1R7), using a combination cutting-edge and tried-and-true technologies.

Stage one: a filter pad blocks dust from kicked-up litter from clogging later media stages and from escaping the litter box. Stage two: The filter pad is treated with a natural chemical called catechin.

Fun fact: You don’t get green tea in a sushi restaurant just because it tastes good. Catechin, a natural chemical in green tea, is also known to eliminate impurities which can be on raw seafood, preventing illness.

Catechin is also effective in removing odor. When incorporated with sophisticated air filtration systems, catechin becomes an important phase of the Purrified Air Five Phase filtration system. Here is what the Mitsubishi company says about the catechin used in its air conditioner pre-filters:

“Catechin filters get their name from a naturally occurring bioflavonoid found in green tea that has been used in traditional medicine since ancient times. Catechin is infused into every molecule of these filters, which enables them to strip the passing air of odor-causing pollutants such as tobacco smoke and pet smells.

Stages three-five: A proprietary blend of 2.2 pounds (one Kilogram) consisting of (Stage three) activated carbon, (Stage four) zeolite and (Stage five) negative ion ceramic balls.

Odor from cat waste is primarily from one chemical in urine — ammonia — and three in poo: methyl mercaptan, skatole, and hydrogen sulfide. Different filter media is required to remove them from household air. Zeolite is very good at removing ammonia odor. Activated carbon is a poor ammonia odor remover but excels at removing poo odor. While both urine and poo cause litter box odor, the ammonia in urine is the bigger contributor. Any litter box air filter should contain activated carbon and zeolite to be able to remove both odor sources. Negative Ionic ceramic balls are used because of their effectiveness in fighting odor, also.

The two main components of the filter media cartridge are activated carbon and zeolite. When your cartridge needs replacement, it can begin a second life of providing you additional value as plant soil additives.

Zeolite and activated carbon are the primary ingredients of the Purrified Air filter media pack. When it needs to be replaced, instead of putting it in the garbage, simply cut the pack open and use the mixture as a high quality soil enricher for plants, for a second life of providing you with value. Among their many benefits, together they turn the ammonia absorbed from cat urine odor into nitrogen-based plant food, lessen damage from over watering as they absorb up to 55% their weight in water, slowly releasing it under the plant’s demand. The porous structure of both promotes aerated and moist soil over time. Because zeolite is not acidic, its use alongside fertilizers can buffer soil pH levels. Activated carbon can decrease nutrient leaching, lower soil acidity, and reduce the amount of water and fertilizer used on your vegetables and flowers. It is highly porous and contains many of the nutrients found in the organic material from which it was made. Carbon increases the soil’s ability to hold onto plant nutrients and beneficial soil microbes by slowing or reducing the leaching of nutrients by rain or watering. Carbon and zeolite are expensive no matter where you get them. Here is a way you can re-purpose the stuff and double your value.

The Purrified Air Litter Box Air Filter is our primary product.
